Tissue Box Covers, 2023

Painted Tissue Box Covers

My hand holding a tissue box with a blue cover. On one face, hand-painted text says, “small pleasure.” On the other side it says, “big depression.” A tuft of tissue comes out of the top
My hand holds an olive green fabric-covered tissue box. Hand-painted words read “big disconnection” on one side and “small kinship” on the other, with a soft tuft of tissue emerging from the top.
  • About:
A set of hand-sewn painted tissue box covers. I continue to be interested in tissue boxes as objects related to disability and debility and as a tool for gifting something material in the context of an exhibition (in this case, limitless tissues).

The six fabric covers have hand-lettered text:

    Big loss / Small softness
    Big sadness / Small comfort
    Big catastrophe / Small tool
    Big depression / Small pleasure
    Big disconnection / Small kinship
    Big absence / Small presence
