There were moments where I found myself drifting, however, for the most part I found myself focusing on each new line of ink. Given the guidelines that I could only work on one square at a time, I identified quantity of squares filled as the only rubric over which I had control. Therefore, I tried as many different styles as possible until I found one which satisfied the requirements as quickly and as satisfactorily as possible. I liked being in the present and allowing myself to be part of a meaning and part of its construction, but not fully an agent and not fully aware of how my concrete actions and my focused present related to the larger project.
